Meet the Team: Kevin Mook

At Boundless we are firm believers that a company is only as strong as its individual team members. And we love our team! To help you get a sense for the amazing people who work behind (and in front of) the scenes here at Boundless, we established our “Meet the Team” blog series. Featured this week: software engineer Kevin Mook.

Q: What is your role at Boundless?

A: I’m one of the software engineers who helps build new features on our site, keeps the site running smoothly, and otherwise helps support our wonderful team.

Q: What attracted you to Boundless?

A: I’ve always been passionate about education and helping people learn. The wonderful thing about education, especially digital education, is that with a little upfront work you can really make a huge difference in a lot of people’s lives. Being able to make something that has such a positive influence on so many people is what really makes me excited to come in to the office each day.

Q: What are you working on now for Boundless?

A: Many things! A few of the things that stand out this past week include updating our content editor so our content team can more easily improve our content, making our site more accessible for people with disabilities, and working on the infrastructure to allow us to integrate with campus bookstores.

Q: What’s the best part of your job?

A:The best part of my job is definitely working with the amazing team we’ve put together. Everyone here really cares about what they’re doing and what we’re building and are a fun bunch of people to boot.

Q: What were you up to before Boundless?

A: I worked at another startup on a project called Do Ink: we built art and animation tools that made animating really easy and kid friendly. I learned a ton working there and they are some really amazing people; their latest product is a green screen app for your iPad and iPhone – you should check it out in the app store!

Q: Name something surprising about you:

A: I make a mean pie. Also I’m apparently very good at riding a mechanical bull.

Q: What is your favorite game?

A: That depends! If you’re talking about an outdoor game, I absolutely love playing Ultimate (frisbee). If you’re talking board game, I’d have to go with Cthulhu Wars where you play one of H.P Lovecraft’s Great Old Ones trying to bring about the end of the world. And if you’re talking video game, I’ve been playing a lot of Rocket League of late.

Q: If you could describe the Boundless team in one word, what would it be?
