Meet the Team: Eva Petzinger

If you are looking to get a sense for the passion and heart of the team here at Boundless, you need look no further than our talented Product Owner, Eva Petzinger. She is the star of this week’s “Meet the team” series and we invite you to read below to learn more about what drives her at Boundless.

Q: What’s your role at Boundless?

A: I’m the product owner, which for Boundless means that I do a little bit of everything. I started out on the content team here, and still do some content work – mostly on our quiz questions. I also manage our platform roadmap for the engineering team and handle tech support for our customers. If you’ve ever written into Boundless customer support there’s a good chance we’ve talked!

Q: What were you up to before Boundless?

A: I was in school, getting my bachelor’s degrees in Cognitive Science and English.

Q: What attracted you to Boundless?

A: I was drawn in by the prospect of working for a small team that makes a huge impact on the open educational content ecosphere. I’ve always been a big believer in self-driven education, and working for a company that makes vast amounts of educational content freely available feels right.

Q: What’s the best part of your job?

A: Hands down, my teammates. Switching from a content role to a product role means that I get to work with every single person on the Boundless team, and every single one of them is amazing. I cannot say enough good things about my teammates. Everyone is weird and brilliant and really, really cares about driving the price of educational materials down while delivering an excellent product to students. The second best part of my job is that I get to learn, do, and make different things every single day. The third best part of my job is eating snacks and working on weird side data collection projects with the content team. Data we’ve tracked include the average number of Swedish Fish in a fun-sized package (~5.905), the best Now, That’s What I Call Music! album (Now 20, for the record), and our mood ratings for the entire year (we had an average mood rating in January of 3.29).

Q: If you could describe the Boundless team in one word, what would it be?

A: Everyone else said “passionate”, so I’ll say “open-minded.” Everyone’s ideas are respected here.

Q: Share something surprising about you.

A: I’m named after Little Eva, the artist who wrote “The Locomotion” in 1962!
